- Hi,
-
- I have the following persistent problem on several Linux
- servers:
-
- users dial in with 14k4 modems to the servers which have
- 28k8 modems. dialling in works great, but...
-
- after dialing in, the server dials back. This time, the
- same two modems obviously cannot agree on how to setup
- the communication. By the sound of it, I'd say they
- are trying several baud rates, until a timeout occurs.
- Then a disconnect follows.
-
- I've checked the modem manuals, and I'm pretty sure
- the modem is not locked at 28k8 speed. Also, I'd rather
- not lock the speed at 14k4 in other not to frustrate
- the users owning a 28k8 modem.
-
- I've tried this with several types of 28k8 modems,
- but all of them have problems connecting to some 14k4
- modems.
-
- If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.
- Thanks,
-
